Introduction
Welcome to the first edition of “Write About Weed,” my daily journal chronicling my experiences with cannabis.
Weekly Highlights
In the past week, I have:
- Joined a test group for new strains
- Traveled to the Las Vegas market
- Conducted my first strain trial
Participation in Test Group
Alien Labs recently announced on their Twitter account the release of 1,000 boxes containing four phenotypes of Zkittlez crossed with RS11. I appreciate the Alien Labs brand and their community engagement, so when I discovered a drop location near me, I seized the opportunity to participate in their testing initiative.
Market Research in Las Vegas
I had the chance to travel to the Las Vegas market for two days to conduct market research. During my visit, I observed sales trends and pricing variations across different retailers. Utilizing resources like Weedmaps can be beneficial for locating retail options that meet your preferences. One notable observation was the availability of single ounces of flower. I encountered full ounces in a tourist area priced at $90, which was surprising. The quality remains uncertain, but these products were prominently featured on menus. This contrasts with California, where I typically see 3.5 grams or half ounces, often at higher prices.Additionally, I noticed a lack of brand recognition compared to California. After moving from Georgia, I was familiar with many brands available in California dispensaries, but during my visit to Vegas, I recognized very few, with Stiiizy being the only brand I distinctly recall.I did not purchase any cannabis during my trip, as I currently have a backlog and am not looking to buy more. Moreover, while traveling, I rarely find the opportunity to consume in a comfortable manner, so I mostly abstained. I did manage to take a puff from something I had previously rolled at the end of Saturday night, but it was unsatisfactory, so I put it out.
First Strain Trial
This morning, I had my first trial of one of the Alien Labs phenotypes. The standout feature of this strain was its smooth smoke. The experience was enjoyable, providing a “beast mode” feeling as I settled into my day. Unfortunately, I had to extinguish it prematurely due to being in an enclosed space without ventilation. However, the effects had already taken hold, and I felt a significant reduction in anxiety almost instantly. As I write this, I can distinctly feel a difference in my perspective and internal thoughts compared to the previous days of abstaining.
Conclusion
I hope you found this edition of “Write About Weed” both informative and enjoyable. Stay tuned as I continue this journey into the world of cannabis.
